need speaker help...

Hey guys, Im looking to get brand new speakers for my car and I have some questions...

Right now, I have an Alpine 50x4 head unit.... 1800w rockford fosgate amp, and 2 10inch HE2s...

This setup dystorts at about 20+ volume level, and the total volume can go up to 36.

I have a 02 v6 camaro, no special option on speakers.... could someone help me out with what sort of speakers to get? I dont want to spend a ton of money, also, would I need an amp for the speakers.... I think there are 4 total speakers, right?

Is it really worth it to replace the speakers? Will the sound be alot better, and also, will the bass hit any harder?

If anyone could gimme some links of some speakers I could ebay or such, It'd be greatly appreciated, I have no clue about anything in the speaker department.

thanks

An outboard 50x4 amplifier will outperform a 50x4 HU any day of the week. And by a LONG shot too.

Do you have the front speaker hi-passed (bass blocked)? This will help with your present distortion problem if not. The cheap way of doing this is wiring a 200uf or so cap in series with the front speakers. The preferred way would be to have a set of component speakers hi-passed at around 80Hz by an outboard amplifier.

NEW speakers are definitely "worth it". And then some. The factory speakers are extremely low quality. What kind of speakers do you have available to you where you live? How much are you wanting to spend?

How big will this amp be? Also, how much would it cost? Im looking to buy the speakers and amp online. I dont want to spend more than 300 on everything if possible...

These are questions you'll have to find answers to yourself. What determines the size of the amp is where you intend to mount it. Where is your RF amp at now?

Since you're on a limited budget I would recommend getting a good 2 channel amp and a nice set of components for up front. You can buy rear speakers later. And when you add them you can power them with your HU. I would recommend using a set of midbass speakers in back. Theres no need to have tweets behind you. I'd also recommend using a passive bandpass crossover on the rear speakers but you can worry about that later.
