Need some help with speaker selection
Need some help with speaker selection
I have a Pioneer DEH-P47DH deck (1.5 DIN, plays regular CDs) and I have 2 front speakers running off it. (Alpine SPS-170A I think)
I also have a 4 channel amp from the previous owner and a box with 2 Punch subs. (didn't measure their size but you can see a picture here)
I have removed the sub box since for weight reduction
and also because I don't really need that much bass. I would, however, like to have some good speakers in the back (I don't have rear speakers since the body is a 93) and use the amp that I have to drive them. Can anyone give me some suggestions?
Thanks.

Re: Need some help with speaker selection
yeah a subthump box would be good for your purposes. You can bridge 2 of those channels and send it to the one sub, so you can have a single sub with way more power than those 2.
I don't know how much your amp can run, but i'd say you can't go wrong with a kicker 12", maybe an Alpine type-S.

Re: Need some help with speaker selection
My suggestion is to forget about rear speakers all together. Take your 4 channel amp and run your speakers up front with 2 of the channels. Bridge the other 2 channels to drive a single subwoofer. If you need an enclosure I'm selling my 10" JL Audio "Vantage" stealthbox.
If you don't have a surround sound system that can delay the signal having speakers in back is just a waste of money IMO. Think about it for a second. If you're sitting in the back seat of your car, trying to talk to the person driving, would you want a speaker blasting into your shoulder? That's NOT at all what I would consider a good listening experience.

Actually I wasn't reffering to subs. I was talking about speakers near the back seat. I still have the factory sub, but if I can use 2 good speakers and bridge the other 2 outputs of the amp for one decent sub, then that will be even better. Like I said, I don't need much bass, plus I barely drive this car anyway, but I like to listen to some good ole' Aerosmith or AC/DC with the t-tops off when I take it out for a spin.

Re: Need some help with speaker selection
Take a look at my car. All I have are components up front and two subs in back. Even so I still have people asking me what kind of speakers I use in back.
