My Subs cut/fade out.... (Different than the other thread)
My subs either cut out or fade out. This has been recent. The Amp is on, but if I smack the side of my dash they come back on. -Loose connection, guarantee! It happened when I hit a bump or take a turn.
SOooooo..... I was almost SOLD on the thought that it was a chewed up REM wire to my amp. I re-routed a BRAND NEW strand of 14ga Remote wire. Re-routed it too! I was under my carpet near my pedals. (I tucked it above the plastic pedal cover, under the dash.) Also re routed the RCA cables...
IT worked fine for about 15 minutes, the subs even hit harder. But I could hear it skipping beats and gradually fading out.... then it cuts out...
I'm SOOOOO tired of this, and I'm tired of hitting my dash every time I hit a bump or take a corner to turn the subs back on.... Now it does it whenever. BUt if I poke my screen on the head unit they come back on easier. I've taken the stereo out while it's on, and shaken it, poked it, jiggled the wires and nothing! I've looked at the amp when it was acting up, the green light stays on. It doesn't go red. 500 W Cadence, it's been on there for a while. (The specs match)
PLEASE don't tell me my head unit is going! It's a Pioneer, DEH-P6400. I've had it for about 7 years now, bought it brand new.

Well I found it... It's the remote wire at the connector to the back of the head unit that is causing all the trouble. If I take the dash plate off I can mess w/ the wire, and it cuts out.
It's not making the best connection. I thought I moved the wire to a position where it was free from binding and it worked fine for about a day. Now it's cutting in and out worse than it was before.
I'll have to take the pin out of the connector and expand the contact points a little more. If that doesn't work then I guess I'll have to get a new HU.

u could run the remote wire to the switched 12 volt wire so that way it would come on and off with the car atleast... this is done when adding amps to factory radios alot where there is no remote lead
EDIT: nevermind, didn't see PentaVolvo's post above -- that's a nice, cheap, fast way.
I have a Pioneer HU... THis is gettign worse by the day. THe amp doesn't stay on for more than 10 seconds now. I can tap the screen and it comes back on then shuts back off 5-10 seconds later. I'm REALLLLYYYY Getting TIRED of this!
.. It has to be a head unit problem. And me smacking the side of the dash is only making it worse. Loose connection in the radio or something.
I suppose I can rig it to the switched power. The remote wire is completely loose in the back of the radio. By loose I mean it's not binding on anything. It's connected good, but it's not wedged up against anything or pinched.

maybe thats all it was was a loose connection there for the remote at first....and then all your hitting it messed up other things - that would suck!

are you runing just the one amp for the subs? if so i have (I think) 3 head units that have very little use. one is a Pioneer, one an Eclpse and ill have to check the other. could sell you one cheap if you need it.
