Metra bose bypass harness

I found out that a company named metra makes a harness to bypass the factory bose amplifiers so you can power aftermarket speakers with a head unit or separate amp. Not the one that splices into the head unit wiring that let's you keep the factory amps and speakers. This one plugs directly into the bose amps. But there were 2 things about it I was unclear on. First off it says it fits 97-02 camaro systems with the bose system. Didn't camaros from 97-02 come with the monsoon system? Also has anyone heard of this harness and know if there is one that fits the early 4th gens? The metra part number I found was 70-2029. But that is the one that says it fits 97-02 camaros with the bose system.

I'll look at work. Metra is the brand we carry for radio harnesses.

Re: Metra bose bypass harness

couldnt answer your other question, but metra makes alot of good quality prodcuts all except for their harnesses, they use poorly guaged wire (18) when most use 16 and some 14 for their harnesses, not that the wire needs to be any bigger for power means, its just chinsey and has a hard time staying connected to the endcaps in the plastic plug.
They do however make lovely mounting kits...

Re: Metra bose bypass harness

Couldn't find it at work sorry. I'm very interested in this as well as my stock headunit doesn't play CDs and I've got a Pioneer Premier head unit waiting to be plugged in.

I also emailed the Metra representative for the Midwest area about the application problem so we'll see if he responds.
