Make my alarm stop working.

I needed to change out my alternator, and as soon as I wiggled a wire, the alarm (Code Alarm) that hasn't worked in 2 years started doing it's job.

I cut the wires for the horn and ripped (yes, ripped) out the sensor that was zip-tied to the bottom of my steering column.

I can't start the car unless the alarm stops working, unfortunately neither of my remotes work.

How do I unhook the alarm while still being able to start the car? I don't want to just unplug it and take it out and not be able to start my car.

I don't care to have an alarm, I'd rather just have my car start.

Car is an '81 Z28, by the way.

Re: Make my alarm stop working.

Find the brain of the unit and the model number should be printed on it. Then Id call code alarm and ask them to either send/fax you a copy of the install manual so you can remove it all, or ask them how to disable it. There usually is a little button to push somewhere to disable it. Turn the key to on without starting the car, then hold down the button, then turn the key back to off and start the car.

you could always find the starter wires under the steering column and put those back together, there is probably a starter kill relay installed.
