iPod Connectivity - '95 Bose System
iPod Connectivity - '95 Bose System
Does anyone out there know if there is a way to add an auxilliary jack to my stock '95 Bose single cd head unit? Right now I'm using a FM modulator and the sound is horrible!
Thanks,
Jim

This is pretty much your only option. There may be other similar products, but there's no other way to wire it in to your stock stereo.

Alternatively, upgrade to an aftermarket head unit with iPod integration. I recommend Alpine.

I've got an Alpine H/U I took out of my Avalanche when it was totaled. I ran my iPod Video through it and it worked great. I know it's not a stock solution, but I am going to sell it. I had run it 4 months before the accident (near head-on). Would you be interested?
If I had money to spend I should buy tires. But oh well.
It is a CDA-9857 H/U. It has a special cable for directly connecting the iPod to the unit and also has the Ai-Net interface for other peripherals (XM, CD-changer, etc). Once connected, the iPod contents are displayed on the H/U. I used to keep the iPod in the glove box 24-7, except to sync. The Alpine keeps the iPod charged.
I paid $400 for the unit and cable. I'll sell it for $200 plus shipping (from Virginia). I'll throw in the XM tuner for another $100 ($200 new).

FWIW, I used the Monster Cable brand FM transmitter and it's pretty clear in my car...stock radio.

I've tried another brand..Belkin, I think, and it sounded horribly. I hear all of them suck, except for the Monster brand one. It cost around $100, but for me it works pretty well, if you want a cheaper alternative to buying an entire new radio.
I got mine at Best Buy..not sure if it's a national chain.
