Installing PAC SWI-X, need some help!

I did a search and didn't find anything that helped my situation. I purchased a 97 Trans Am back in May to replace the 93 Z28 that my ex-wife made me sell for a POS truck (no, I'm not bitter ) and I had a pretty sweet CD player that I was going to transfer over but never had the time. The CD player is a Panasonic CQ-HR1003U. I had everything stockpiled in my closet and this morning I missed my first class so I figured what the heck, why not install it. I read the directions and basically it said to use the red (ACC), black (Ground), and the Green (Interface Wire) wires. I wired up the green interface wire to Pin 14 (the Violet/Black wire) like the instructions said and everything was going fine. The instructions said that the interface version was '1' and I had that programed and had moved on to step 18. The instructions state that I am to press and hold the programming/mode button and and the left light will come on and stay lit and I am to press a button to be learned on the steering wheel and the left light will go off and the right light will come on to show that it's got that code and then I am to press the corrosponding button on the radio's remote and the right light will go off and the command will have been learned. My problem is this, I get to that step and press and hold the programming button but the left light just blinks real quick and then won't do anything. It doesn't stay lit, it just blinks and then it won't do anything. Anyone have any ideas?
