kiztope,

how do you power your PC - with an inverter or a DC-DC adapter?

I power the PC via a 150 Watt DC-DC PSU by Opussolutions.

It is a great piece of equipment. It has a shutdown controller, it will keep your PC powered even during a crank, and is nice and small...

judging from your volts, you run a mid/full tower? does the shutdown controller trigger when the engine turns off?

Re: Installing a computer in a car: how to control it?

Well, I used to have a 94Z, but that is gone, but i do have a car computer in my replacement, a 2005 grand am. as for the power supply, I am using one called the M1-ATX. 90 watter with all of the shutdown and startup controllers and such. I have the Lilliput 7" touchscreen monitor, though i have heard the Xenarc's are better. I love it. I can do so much more in my car than i previously could. It is easy to add tv, dvd, gps, xm, everything controlled from the screen, and as long as you stick to the 7"ish range, it should be pretty easy to fabricate something to make it fit in the dash of a 4th gen f-body, if you know any body work.

if you are looking for advice, i also highly reccomend mp3car.com, as they have an awesome forum and they also sell the stuff they talk about.
any other questions, feel free to pm me, and i will be happy to help.

Mike

Re: Installing a computer in a car: how to control it?

I am actually running a mini-Atx (the MN31N - shuttle) The reason I chose the 150w is because I have many USB devices, including GPS, Bluetooth, the touch screen, jump drives, XMPcr, etc, and a firewire DVDRom...

I do have pics, but still haven't gotten them posted to my website.
