Installing a 8 cyl Tach please help

This is a cyberdyne tach its for an 8 cyl. However there is no 4 cyl switch. I now understand that our cars only work off 4 cyl guages and shiftlights. Is there any way to trick the guage? Its accurate but its readings are exactly cut in half. When I am at 1000 rpms it reads 500rpms and so forth. I have tapped the #10 wire from the pcm. I understand that you can also tap an injector wire and a wire from the coil packs but I dont know which ones. Anyone with anyone have a clue as to how to get the right signal to the tach?

Thanks,
