I want to remove my manual antenna and install a power antenna? How to I unscrew my current antenna, it looks like it may need a special tool?

i just took mine off, you have to go into where your spare tire is, take the tire out, and the jack, there is one bolt , undo the bolt, pull the antenna cable out (just pull down on it it will come out rather easily) i unscrewed my antenna from the outside, 8 mm wrench i believe....and then go back inside and pull the rest of the antenna thats left right out, give it a rather firm tug.....whats left is the rubber piece on the outside of the car, takes about 5 min.

Re: How to remove Antenna???

I know it has only been 7 years since the last post but here's a little added information to these great replies. The bolt referred to is a short 3/8" or 10 millimeter. It secures the bottom of the bent pipe looking internal support that has the short cable with connector which plugs into the wiring loom. This brace / support spans the space between the top and side of to the quarter panel and makes the antenna mounting very secure and adds rigidity to the qp. That support is the portion you tug downward after the outside antenna section has been removed. It helps to twist a little as you pull downward. The rubber grommet that is secured to the top of the qp pulls upward and away. It has a rubber notch protrusion that helps to secure it. You just need to squeeze this from the underside and it will easily come out. A little silicone spray helps to ease the removal of both the lower section and the outer grommet.
