Hey Guys,

I am going to get a 10" Alpine Type S and a Vantage Box.

I am trying to decide what amp to go with.

I am getting an Alpine amp, but not sure which one I want to get.
One of these:

Alpine MRD-M300: 300x1 RMS 600x1 Peak

Alpine MRD-M500: 500x1 RMS 900x1 Peak

I know the M500 can push way more power than the Type S needs, but I don't know if the M300 will be enough. I would rather get the M500 and turn the power down than get the M300 and be underpowered.

If you think the M300 will cover it let me know.

I'm using a 10" Type-S in a Vantage stealthbox. I'm running at 2ohms with an MTX 6500D that, accoring to the test sheet, pumps out 592W @ 2ohms.

 

I installed a system consisting of 2 12" type-s' each getting 500W RMS and they sound great. I adjusted the gain on the amp with an o-scope to make sure the amp wasn't clipping. 500W is probably pretty near it's electrical limits but if the gain is set properly you won't have a problem. Get the 500.

 

Explain to me how you can run a 4ohm speaker at 2 ohms. I thought that would destroy the speaker?!

And where did you get that box at?

 

My Type-S is not a 4ohm sub. It has dual 4ohm VC's connected in parallel for a 2ohm load.

I got my Vantage box online from mmxpress.com (or something like that) for $95 a few years agao. It was the last one they had because they were no longer going to sell JL products.
