how to make a conv system sound good
OK...tell you what...I have 2 JL 12w6's running off a Fosgate 500s in my trunk...even with the top down, it's LOUD. As much bass as I could want. If I put the top up, I have to turn the Bass down some! If you want top down bass...run 2 GOOD 12's back there and you'll have it FO-SHIZZLE!
I know about systems... i'm a member of termpro and sounddomain and a couple others... I have seen convertible installs. You have to make a bandpass or a ported box with the port coming into the cabin. Exactly how you want to do that is where your creativity comes in. I have seen somebody cut out the middle between the back two seats and put the port right there with some kind of mesh to make it look nice. On the other hand, I have 2 15" Treos and I can knock **** off of people's walls whether the t tops are on or off.
Bass needs something to reflect off of for the waves to separate... For example, if you open your trunk, your subs won't hit for **** but I'm sure the people a couple blocks away are hearing your **** nice and loud. It works upon simple theories, know your physics =)

I built a bass tube for the hump between my backseat. If you check out my website (in my signature below) its on page 2. Works real well. That is until this morning when I fried my Fosgate 800. Now I need a new amp! By the way, does anybody know the max mounting depth for the front door speakers? I want to put some Audiobahn 6.5's in there but they need 3.5". Thanks. Has anybody thought of or found a way to enclose the speaker holes in the back so they are not open? Any speaker I have put in there sounds like crap because there is NO enclosure. We need to think something up for that.
