how big of a POS is the 94Z Bose system

how big of a POS is the 94Z Bose system
from what I hear it's only 2 speakers and a crappy sub. I am picking this car up used and the pass side door speaker is shot(probably amp)
what are my options short of replacing the whole setup.
Can I add the rear speakers for not alot of $$$ and if so is the wiring there, do I just have to find later Bose rear speakers/amp to patch in or do I have to wire back there?
