How to add steering wheel radio buttons?

What is needed besides the steering wheel and buttons to add a radio button steering wheel to a car that didnt have it? Is there a remote unit under the dash or is everything in the wheel? Anyone have a schematic or install instructions? Thanks!

your main body harness has to have the wiring to go from the steering column to the C200 connector, connector E, to the back of the radio for control from the steering wheel, All of my schematics show that camaro's optioned with the UQ0/W53 & W54/W55 (AC delco and Monsoon, respectively) were the only ones to have wiring to support the steering wheel control function.

If you don't have the body harness from an optioned car, here is the hook-up you need to do to a monsoon head unit or the AC delco head unit.
Fused 12 volts (probably from your radio fuse-out) input on pin A, to the steering column and the output to the from the column is on pin C to the radio input Pin 14 (connector for rear speakers) on for steering wheel control.
Yes it is only 2 wires needed, the wheel provides different voltages to the input pin, which are recognized in the head unit and perform the appropriate function.

peripheral makes a steering wheel stereo control interface that just wires in to your aftermarket deck should you wiring be there. never had a problem with it. i think it runs like 35 bucks at bestbuy

sorry for reviving a dead thread, but I was looking at adding a wheel with controls to my 99 and I was wondering if you would just wire from your fused power and then into one of these steering wheel interfaces for aftermarket radios because I have a Sony head unit and want ot perform this install. I just want to know before I go and open a huge can of worms and destroy my wiring. I am going to just install a whole steering column assembly from a wrecked car. Thanks for your help

reviving a dead thread
I am looking to take a steering wheel from a 94 fully loaded formula and add it to one that didn't come with one.
is there a easy way to check to see if the one w/o the wheel has the harness or not
