hooking up two amps to one sub
jus like the thread says. i have always wondered if i could exactly do this. im pretty sure i can. im talking about a dvc sub so it will have two voice coils. just say it is 2 ohms each coil could i use two amps, the same amps to power each voice coil at 2 ohms? you know like take one amp and power one voice coil and take the other amp and power the other voice coil. thanks im pretty sure you can do this without hurting anything as long as the amp is the same like same power and stuff. Also one more question can i run one amp stereo and power one sub with dual voice coils? like take one channel and power one coil and take the other to power the other coil. so if an amp puts out 2x200 then each coil will get 200 watts. understand? im pretty sure you can do this thanks!
also is there any way that i can increase the voltage that my alternator is putting out so that it will be close to 14.4v for my amps. because im sure you know that most amps rate their power output rms at 14.4v 14.0 13.8v etc etc... but really the amp is only seeing 12v so it will be less power unless you have an amp that is rated at 12v which is good! so how would i have to redo my alternator without buying a stniger or one of those high output alternators for like 500+. i think you have to add brushes to it and change the voltage regulator to a higher voltage maybe? id ont know because taht might overcharge the battery too. if anyone has any insight or can sned me to a good website it would be great thanks!

I would not do that unless the amps you are using are strappable. The problem you are going to run into is tuing the amp. If one amp gains or xover is are a different setting, then it'll sound like crap. When I use to work for a audio shop, we had one install that way (we didn't do it) but we had to try to tune it...didn't work.
I would just go with a Larger sub amp...
The ONLY amps that i know of that you can do what your talking about with is Kicker's, and only a couple of their amps that are capabile of doing it.
Your car typically runs at 13.6V, not 12.. so your amp will typically see 13.6V.
