HID kit in stock 93-97 Lights

I came across a write up last year about removing the stock bulb out of the 93-97 rectangle bulbs and replacing them with standard 900? bulbs. So pulled the stock bulb out and siliconed in new 900? bulbs and they worked great. Then I was thinking a HID kit should work so I pulled them apart and bought a cheap $99 HID kit 8300k (light blue). They work awesome. I can see now better then most cars on the road. I've had them in since spring of last year and they work perfect. I have not nothing but compliments on them. I'm pretty sure they were 9006 bulbs but I will have to check. They plug right into the stock connector on our 93-97 harness and they are the same diameter as the bulbs that I removed from the rectangle housing. When I installed the kit I put silicone bead around the hole for the bulb then placed the bulb in. Then I put a rubber band around the light holding the bulb into place over night. Remove the bands and install the bulbs.
If anyone has any question feel free to post them.

I don't know how to post pics. The lights I bought are your Ebay special China HID kit. If your in the Toronto area SLS customs sells good kits for about 125-150. If you shoot me your email I could take some photos and send them to you.

I'm missing something...

I did the 9005 (or 9006), can't remember which is right myself??? in the stock "housing" a couple of years back, but was disappointed that the bulbs burned out so fast...

Got another low beam burned out now..

Anyway, you're saying the HID kit from eBay w/ 8300??? is what you're using now? Is that something you use w/ the Sylvania 9005s (or 9006s)??? Or do you get different bulbs etc w/ the HID kit?

Is the HID kit hard to install??? wiring etc??

I am really frustrated w/ the headlights on my car... recently put Hella FF75s driving lights in the fog light slots... I like them.

thx

JT

The HID kits come in different light colors. 8300k is the White/blue color. The lower the number the more yellow/white and the higher the number it goes almost a blue/purple. Most of the HID kits are plug and play. I plug the stock harness into the ballast wire which goes to the ballast. Then plug the wire that comes out of the ballast into the bulb that has been mounted into the stock rectangle light housing. Its that easy. I going out to take pictures now. Shoot me your email and I'll send some pics to you.

8300k? Good luck in the rain...

The highest I'd go is 5000k (which I almost did but opted for the 4300k for the most usable light).

I've had these lights in for two summers and have had no problems.
I would'nt go with the 4300 because they are going to look like normal lights with a yellow tint. I find even the 6000k lights look like stock. I've never heard anything about them being bad in the rain. My buddies run the 10000k and 12000 but they get flashed sometimes because they are almost purple.
to each there own
