Hi-amp alternators

Where's a good place to get hi-amp alternators? I'm looking for one that puts out atleast 100+ amps

Depending on the year and model car you have it might already put out over 100 amps. The Z28, Formula and T/A from 93-97 had the CS-144 alternator which puts out 140 amps. The alternator on my wife's 2001 Camaro V6 puts out 105, and it's stock.

Now, there are numerous places to get upgraded, high-output alternators.

Mr Alternator and Powermaster are just two. One I recommend is a guy named Dominick Irragi. He builds them himself. He's an SPL stereo competitor and runs his own stuff. Also, many people across the country use his alternators. Check him out: dominick@tds.net.

Precision Power will build you one and that would probably be the best you could buy. If you are going to run a serious application you should probably get a larger gauge wiring for it.

Oh...you should use some unregulated amps if you pick up a high output alternator - you'll be pleased!

I second and third dominick. I'm running his alt now. Wonderful little piece. They key thing to look for when buying a H/O alt for dailey driver is how many amps it outputs AT IDLE!!! That is key. Don't forget that.....

??? We're talking power supplies here correct? Last time I checked my high output alt still outputs 14.4V, same as stock.

I don't know if most multimeters can actually test amperage. You might have to use an ammeter for that.

Or take it to Autozone, they should be able to tell you.
