This picture isn't recent (amp is mounted now), but how would you go about cutting holes in this thing (T-Top cover? what's it called!). I am thinking I'd like to mount to Pioneer 4x10's to it, assuming the bottom magnet part doesnt touch the t-tops when stored. The carpet seems like it would be difficult to work with....anyone ever cut anything from this?

Conversely, I could just replace the rear components with these, but after taking the cover off it seems difficult to mount them, anyone put 6x9 or 4x10's in the back?

I've never heard of anyone putting speakers in the flap. Amps yes, speakers no. The last time I checked, it had to be flipped forward when storing the tops anyway. I could be wrong. Plus the mounting surface is so irregular I think you'd have loads of trouble. Besides, most guys on here dislike anything but a sub coming from the rear. My .02

Get some good components for up front, and maybe some coaxials in the sail panels but the use of rear fill in these cars is unnecessary imo

Sit in a car that has it's front soundstage done properly and you'll know why rear speakers aren't necessary. Unless of course you're running a "true" surround sound setup.

I'll agree with that. That's the only reason why I have a rear fill. I'd save your money for something else than adding those speakers.
