HELP! Rear speakers dont work

I just finished installing my cd player. When I first turned it out static was coming from the right rear but nothing from the left rear. A couple seconds later nothing came from the right rear either. The front speakers work fine. I have checked and checked and checked the rear speaker wiring and everything seems to be right. Could the rear speakers be blown? Someone please help me!

do the battery test on the speakers to make sure they are good.. did you use an adapter to hook your cd player to the factory wiring or did you actually spice into it?

What is the battery test?

I spliced into the factory wiring since when I bought my car it did not have a radio or harness. So I just wired the cd player harness directly to the wires. Is that a bad thing?

i dunno if its a bad thing but i had a similar problem when i spliced like that.. make sure all the wires are the right ones some people mess with their car wires before they sell the car.. the battery test is when u hook the two wires +/- to a small AA battery the speaker should pop..

you speakers could be blown, but if you hardwired it to the factory wiring I would redo the wire and put a factory harness back on there. Just go to Best Buy and pickup a GM harmess and a GM Reverse Harness for 17.00 each use butt connectors to reconnect the factory wiring into the reverse harness then wrap it in electricle tape. then connect the deck wiring into the the standard harness and plug it in. thats the best way to do makes it a cleaner installation. Also make sure to use crimp caps, to just twist and tape them or use electrical wire nuts like ive seen some people use. then if you still have problems you know its not the wiring behind the deck. and it also makes it easier if you replace your deck in the future.

Update: I checked out the speakers today to check the connections and everything looked good. I played around with the connection of the right rear because It did work for a couple seconds when I first turned the cd player on and I got the speaker to work if I held the plug in a certain way. I played around the left rear and had no luck. I then moved the right rear speaker over to the left and it also worked there if I held the plug a certain way. If I dont hold it a certain way it will start to hear a little static and it will crack and stuff. I moved the left rear to the right but the speaker still didnt work.

So I am thinking I have one blown speaker. How come the speaker will only sound good if I hold the plug a certain way? I will probably get a factory harness tommorow.
