HELP! Aftermarket HU with Bose - No sound when CD in but radio works?
Alright guys, here is my problem. I installed an aftermarket Sony CD player (brand new) in my buddies 94Z today. I thought I was going to run into problems with the Bose system (I called all the local car audio stores to find the PAC OEM1 adapter - none had it). Anyway, when we put the CD player on the radio the music comes out fine from all of the speakers. When you insert a CD there is no music that comes out, but you can tell that the CD is being read.
Is this the problem with Bose? Does it transmit some kind of output to the Bose speakers when a CD is in telling it not to output any sound? Where can I get an adapter to fix this? My buddy doesn't want to replace his whole system yet, so we would like to have the 2 front Bose speakers, along with the rear Bose sub to work with this aftermarket Sony deck.
Can anyone help us out? Thank you in advance!

Not a bogus HU by anymeans. Please provide more info to claim that.
There are 2 blue wires on the back of the Sony. A Blue/White and a Blue. You currently have the Blue/White to the solid blue on the GM harness. This is the 'power antenna' wire. This wire loses power when a CD is on to lower the power antenna if equipped. Thats why the Bose amp is shutting down.
Switch blue wires and youll be good to go.

Interesting. Do you own a Sony? MANY, if not all but Sony, keep power to this wire regardless if a CD is playing or the radio is on. Yeah, I know. It sucks. But that's why a lot of people put a simple toggle switch in-line with this wire.....

Many? No. Most mid/higher models have 2 remote wires.

..... but I'm not trying to argue with you. You're probably right.

Thats what bugs me about Pioneer. Ive owned their radios all my life everything from a $300 deh 7200 to the $2400 AVX 7300DVD. You can always add a switch to the power antenna wire, but I like the fact that Sony/Kenwood has them built in. Very nice feature IMO.
