Head unit help

Well my Delco Bose head unit is giving me some problems, its flickering on and off. I'm pretty sure it's the head unit and not the wiring as I have been in there a few times and havn't found anything loose.

I really don't know anything about car audio, and I'm not going to pay someone to wire a new head unit for me. My question is weill I need some type of dash adaptor to house the new unit? Also do I need some sort of adaptor for the wiring harness or can I get one that plugs right in. Any help would be appreciated!

Later,
Ryan

Well....I am completely engine illterate but VERY knowledgable in car audio so I'll help out round here lol.

Anyways, you need a dash kit, a wiring harness, and a antenna adapter. All can be had for around $20 shipped on ebay. The antenna adapter you just plug in into the original one and then plug the other end into the new HU. The wiring harness, you just match colors and crimp the wires together. And the dash kit, well the one I ordered didn't fit properly it had a weird thing sticking off to the side, i just broke it off and it fit good.

DON'T cut any wires. Use the wiring harness.

ok well I tried to get everything in today..ran into a problem.

I bought a sony head unit, wiring harness, antenna adaptor, and I was tolf I needed a "bose system interface" to get it to work. I wired everything together and it turns on but says "failure" meaning the speakers or amp was wired incorrectly. Everything is right though...

The only thing I can think of is that the wire for the amplifier coming from the head unit is not connected. There is nothing to connect it too...

Will I have to find the amp wire and connect it? I have no idea where the bose amp is...let alone how it is wired so again, any help would be great!

yea I got the interface when I bought everything else. Everything is wired correctly from what I can see, all connections are soldered neatly..but its not working. Like I said there is an amp aire coming from the head unit harness that was I had to leave disconnected, could that be it?

The blue/white turn on? That should only be for an aftermarket amplifier.

ook..update..

I nixed the interface and the guy at best buy told me to ground the negative RR and LF wires and wire everything else normally without the interface. Now my radio works..but it won't play a CD. excellent. I then tried to just wire it straight through without grounding the two wires and only the radio worked again but this time it only came through the rear speakers it sounded like.

Does anyone know how to get this thing to play a CD? Apparently somethings right if the tuner works..

If it don't play a CD that's an issue with the HU, not wiring.

No it plays the CD, just no sound comes out, sorry. It still says "failure," meanin there is a wiring error.

Take it out, make sure everything is wired securley. And if it's still doing it I would say go to Circuit City, buy a cheap CD player and see if it that works. (they got a 30 day return policy)
