Exclamation got the amp, which sub?

I currently running an Audiobahn Aluminum 12 with a JBL 1200.1. I want to upgrade to improve both sq and spl, mostly sq and preferably have just one 12. What should i get? I'm looking at the adire shiva, alpine type r, and elemental design 12k. Will this be better than my current setup? Please help me with any input or other options. I am under the impression that these subs should be given less power, should i downgrade amps? PPPPLLLLLLEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEEE help. Thank you.

How much you looking to spend? I don't think you'll get a HUGE upgrade with any of those subs you mentioned. Is enough money in your pocket book for a Brahma??

I could probably do that if I decide I want it bad enough. How much would it be after shipping and everything, like 400? Also, would it be a huge upgrade?

id go with a kicker solobaric 12L7, or 15L7 with that power IMO.

after shipping the BRahma is 370, and it is worth every penny. For the price there is nothing better IMO.

He said that he wanted better SQ... the solos are just not that great in that department IMO.... sure you can make any sub sound decent, but it takes HUGE effort to make a L7 sound as good as most any sub in its price range.

Why has no one mention the 12W7 yet? One of those and you will be in hog heaven. They are a very smooth SQ/SPL sub. I love their sound and the output is nothing short of amazing. That JBL 1200.1 would still be pushing around 900W @ 3ohms. That would be the best option for an upgrade in my opinion.

If he was worried about the $400 that the Brahma 12 would be, i am pretty sure the W7 is out of the question.... besides the Brahma is a bit better optimized for the amp he has....

Yeah, but I just love them so much. They are just so clean and powerful. He wants an upgrade so why not just get the best? You'll eventually want it anyway right? It's cheaper to buy things just once, like I always have said. And 900W is plenty optimized. Under humane listening conditions he wouldn't notice the difference between 900W and 1200W.

I guess i have a little issue with what you are calling the best... the best with 900 watts is IMO not a W7 or a Brahma.... i would take the Max or the ED A series personally, but since the Brahma, A series, and max will all pull full power that changes things a lot. I have never actually heard the W7, but from all accounts it is very similar to the W7 in almost all respects. I have had the Brahma 10, 12 , and 15 all in my car for a good amount of time, ID Max and currently have the ED A series..... IMO i would take the A and Max over the Brahma with that power... and if the Brahma is as similar to the W7 as all the people that i have heard reports from that own both..... and noting the price difference between them.... well i guess you see what i am trying to say.....

I can see where you are coming from, they are very similar sound wise.

I am interested in running an ED A-series 12" or 15". I have yet to hear one in person though. How would you describe it compared with the Brahma or IDMax, both of which I have heard?

When you say with "that power" do you mean you'd run an ED A or IDMax with lower power and the Brahma with a more powerful setup? Would you consider 600W enough for an ED A? I have heard mixed opinions.

Just looking for another view here.
