Fitting an Alpine CDA-7897 in Camaro Dash

This unit is technically not going to fit into the dash of my new car. It has a depth of 6 8/10's and the people from crutchfield told me the only ones that will fit have to be 6 3/4's or less. Can I make more room to mount it back there. Has anyone done this. I don't want it sticking out 2 inches like I always see. Are the RCA outs on Alpine's built into the back of the unit (taking up more room) or are they kind of hanging off so that I can move them to get more room. (if that makes sense to you)

I put an alpine in my car awhile back and they told me that it wouldn't fit.I took out the old hu and looked inside and saw that their was a metal piece that supported the back of the factory hu.It was held by a bolt attached to the floor,i removed it and had plenty of room.Hope this helps

The mounting depth of my HU is apparently over 7" with the RCAs plugged in. Plus I have a flush mount install kit. All I had to do was remove the small tab and relocate a small black box to the right when you look into the opening for the HU.
