Few questions about speaker placement (audio newbie)?
About 4 years ago, I had my stereo system completley redone at Best Buy. Phoneix Gold wiring, new speakers, Pioneer amp, GMX524, Sony HU, CDX2180. I'm in the process of replacing my worn speakers, so far, I've bought Pioneer TS-A1667 3 ways, for the back. I was wondering if it matters if a 3 way goes in the back or front. I was thinking of replacing the front ones with Pioneer TS-D160R 2 ways. Also, the amp is 50Wx4 for 4 ohms. The speakers are: 1667 = RMS 50W and the 160R = RMS 60W. Does this mean the 50W speaker is at max limit, by the amp and the 60W speaker doesn't have enough power or is within a safe power zone? Should the amp be hooked to all four speakers or just two (2 x 120W) and the other two to the HU (4 x 40)? Thanks for your help.

3-ways in the back? AAHHHHHHHHHH!
Less is more. Go with 2-ways up front and no-ways (no speakers) in back. Thats how I have mine set up.
Don't worry about your speaker's and amp's RMS ratings. As long as you are sending clean power to the speakers (within limits) they'll be fine. And if you are going to be high passing them (in other words, using them with a sub) the speakers can handle even more power.

I am no expert, lets get that out there first.
Now, I had JLaudio coaxs up front and Polks in the rear with a stealthbox and a Soundstream rubicon. The rears overpowered my front stage no matter what I did.
Sold the Polks and ended up changing the amp to a Soundstream Angina and bridging the fronts and WOW! It sounds really good now.
So I agree, leave the backs out and you will be happier. The location of those rear speakers is just too close to your head.
