I want to install the total underdrive pulley kit on my 95 3.4, i have a 150amp alternator installed, will the kit help or hurt the charging capabilities? I have a 6 fahrad cap and about 1000 watts of amps in the back and the headlight conversion, nothing that SHOULD be drawing TOO much...somehow the charge just doesnt hold STRONG still, is it my own stupidity with wiring or is it something else? would the kit help the alternator charge quicker?

 

i have the march under drive pulley kit on my car, and it says on the website, that it wont cause any alternator charging problems..
i've had mine for 2 years and no problems whatsoever,

 

Ditto on my March underdrive pulley. I used it for years with no issues whatso ever. I recently had to yank it off the car though because my ATI dampener wouldn't allow it to be to kept on. I have my March underdrive pulley for SALE if anyone is interested in buying it.

 

Most manufactureres will state that their pulleys are not recommended for cars with high powered stereo systems if their product has any charging system issues. I would contact the maker and ask before making your purchase.

 

well i am not totally sure what the deal is now with my stereo
its not really strong
its like 800 watts max but it draws HARD, i have a 6 fahrad cap and an optima redtop, is there anything i should check to troubleshoot?

 

You can have a 100 "farad" cap and 10 red, yellow, pink and whatever other color batteries and it won't make one bit of difference. Once the engine is running your stereo, as well as the rest of the car, gets it's electrical juice from the charging system. The battery ONLY powers the stereo when the engine is off.

 

That wattage should not be an issue with your car as it sits. I would reccomend checking that the wiring is correct, and that nothing is grounding itself out on anything.

 

i have one power line running from the sub amp to the battery, the cap is between the battery and the amp, i have another line running from the battery to the other amp for the mids, no cap is in this series. both amps are grounded to the sheet metal underneath the carpet in the back "hump" in the trunkspace.

 

You could do the Power and Amp pully set if you're worried about charging. This is a crankshaft underdrive and an alternator overdrive in one kit, so the alternator should charge the same, but the other accessories will slow down a bit. Problem solved.
