do remote starts work with stick shift?
Any of them can be rigged to work with a stick shift, but there are some tricks to it...
Such as a parking break lockout, a Neutral gear lockout, a cluch-bypass relay. Those are the main 3 things that need to be addressed when installing a remote start in a manual car.

There's also one version I've heard about that the car stays running after you remove your keys. You then close the doors and then it shuts the engine off after you get out and lock the doors or what not. Don't know if they still make it or not but I saw SShevy post about that one. I don't know all that exact details but that gives you the idea at least.
you can but you have to bypass the clutch for the remote start to work, also ground the neutral safety switch wire. The only draw back is if you leave it in gear and remote start it your car can surge forward and hit something, that happened to a guy at my work, his friend drove his car and when he got out didnt put it in neutral so when he remote started his car it surged forward hitting a wall damaging his front bumper. Here are some links on bypassing the clutch.

Once again, I'll list what needs to be done to SAFELY install a remote start on a Manual tranny car...
THe following 3 things must be rigged up with switches or similar:
Neutral switch (To prevent the car from jumping)
Parking Brake switch
Clutch bypass switch
With those 3 done, it's just a normal install.

The one Ted J is talking about is the Compustar. They are great remote starts that are designed to work well with standards without having to go through a lot of safety stuff. The have what they call reservation mode where you put on the brake, take car out of gear, then let off the brake and put on the park brake. You then take the key out of the ignition and the car stays running until you shut the door. The car then dies and the brain sends a confirmation to the led remote. This unit also have 6000ft range. They retail for $600.
