Question Do I Need A Cap?

Hey guys, I need a quick point of view. I'm getting ready to install a 250 watt RMS 9far over rated) to a moderate/light 10" sub. As of now the rest of the system is stock, but I will eventually upgrade the surrounds.

Is a CAP really needed for this setup, or is my stock charging system up to the task? If I do need one, should I get .5 farad, or step up to a 1 farad? Thanks for the help!

At that level I wouldn't waste your money. They really aren't needed untill you get closer to the 1K WRMS range, and even there an additional battery or upgraded alternator helps more.

I would say get a .5 farad capacitor. They are around $50 and does make a difference, keeps the power up to your speaker and keeps it from running out of power. Also, stops lights from surging. I ran for years a mtx amp(2150x) and a swap meet amp. Blew speakers all the time. Bought a capacitor and haven't blown a single speaker and no lights surging when the bass hits.

If your headlights dim when the bass hits, then you need a cap. If they don't, then you don't need one. I am running 2 12" subs at 700W RMS and don't need one.
