Well after much research and a little work I now have the Auto-Headlights on my 02 Z28 disabled !!!!!

There are two ways to do it.

This is a good link on how to remove the DRL and the Auto Headlights but I wanted to keep my DRL's so this is what I did:

1) Remove Bezel from the radio/Hvac making sure to unplug the Foglights/ASR switches from the top
2) Remove the two 7mm screws holding the radio in and remove it using care not to scratch your console or radio ( there are a couple of plugs you might have to disconnect to remove it enough for room to work)
3) If you reach in on the passenger side of the vent and up towards the dash cover you will feel 2 plugs. You want the one on the right (passenger side) a 1/4 turn will unplug it. This is the photo-sensor for the Auto headlights.
4) Unplug the sensor and insert a 10k ohm 1/2 watt resistor into the plug.
Make sure you tape it up with electrical tape or you'll short something out and that will suck.
5) Reassemble in reverse order

Should this work with LT1s with auto headlights and DRLs? I like the amber DRL, but I'd rather turn on the headlights when I want them on, and be able to go stealth if I want

 

I couldn't imagine why it wouldn't. I can't see GM changing something as simple as that. I'm sure it's the say basic equipment they use for all their cars.

So I say give it a try. It's not hard.

 

to disable auto-headlights it says to just connect both the wires on the sensor.. but you mentioned a resistor? it should still disable them either way, right? Why'd you use a resistor?

secondly, for DRL's... can you just connect both terminals (A&B) somehow, or is soldering the only way to disable em?

 

on 97 cars, it'll work as well. I used a resistor on mine also

 

Well honestly I don't know a lot about electronics. I read on another site where a guy used the resistor and it worked. I was afraid If I spliced the wires together that I would make the headlights permanently on. Plus also you can take the resistor out and plug the module back in if you want to return to stock.

The resistor is just a little wire about 2 inches long with a little resistor in the middle. Just slide it in the plug and tape it up real good

 

what about if you want to wire it to a switch where you can turn off the auto headlights whenever u want.
i like it turning them on for me but sometimes i want to turn them off and still have the car running...

 

I dunno dude I imagine you could... that's just over my head sorry

 

im sure if you put a switch on a wire (not sure which one) it would turn it off. the problem is just finding this wire...

 

get the switches that have 2 diff positions, in 1 position make it so that it just goes wire switch wire, in the second position make is wire switch resistor wire that works.
