Difference between DEI products?
Difference between DEI products?
I'm looking to rid myself of the factory alarm and step it up a knotch with a 2-way system.
A lot of these products look the same with a different logo - Viper, Python, etc. What's the difference between these products? Best?
What's the deal with motion detectors? I have T-Tops and I am scared to leave them off when I park someplaces.
Is this included with these systems?

As a former installer at circuit city, i can tell you that the main difference is the warranty. The viper line has a lifetime warranty, as the others are usually two or three years.
As far as the T-top thing i would go with a prox. sensor. It will warn away if someone gets within like 1-2 feet from the car, or trigger a full alarm if they reach inside the car.

But, if you want my opinion, don't waste your money! I posted my opinion on the prox sensor in this thread. Here is my opinion copied directly from that thread...
I would NOT reccomend the proxy sensor!
I originally had one since I have t-tops, and I had a friend who had an Ungo with on in his convertible.
They would be great if they weren't so darn sensitive. It doesn't matter how much adjusting you do, you will never get it right.
I turned mine down really low one time (just to test it), it was low enough that I could literaly reach all the way into the car without even getting the warning chirp... But, if a car drove by the front of my car, the alarm would go off. These things are wacko. My friend with the convertible had the same problems. He disconnected his, and I just replaced mine with the standard shock sensor.
Do yourself a favor, and don't **** off you neighbors, you will end up getting your car keyed if you alarm is going off every time someone drives by your car. Just get the shock sensor, and put your t-tops back on when you park it.

the prox isnt that bad. it all depends on where and how you mount it. i have one in mine, and ive put them in at least three of my buddies cars, with no problems at all. just my opinion.
but as mentioned above it might be easier to put the t tops back on.

If your going to get a DEI go with a clifford those are the best ones DEI makes. I would highly suggest a Prestige made by audiovox. I have one of my '94 t/a and love it. It has a LCD of the remote so you can see everything thats going on if your alarm goes off what part of the car what doors are open etc. it also has a 4-mode adjustable shock sensor I paid 179 for mine from an authorized dealor but they go on ebay for $134.00
