Confusion

Hey, I know nothing about Car Stereo. I just installed my Rockford Fosgate RFX9000 head unit. I got a little overexcited and ended up blowing out the 6x9 in the rear. It hits alot less hard than it used to. Other speakers seem OK. However, my friend told me that since I have a premium sound system (Bose), I would have to change ALL the speakers in the car, not just the 6x9. If so, what speakers surpass the Bose's quality of sound? I am also looking to hook up subs with an amp in the back.

If you have the Bose system, that's not a 6x9, it's a subwoofer... You might be able to find a replacement at a salvage yard somewhere.

None of the 4th gens have 6x9s in them from the factory, the grills in the back look like 6x9's but they're not.

My 96 had the 10 speaker system and the ones in the back of mine are a 4" midrange and a 1" tweeter under those big grills.

Very nearly every aftermarket speaker on the market.

You will need to swap monsoon for monsoon. Otherwise you need to run wiring directly from the head unit to the speakers to bypass the stock POS amp. Or run an external amp . Adding a sub and matching amp isn't difficult at all if you have a little electronic know how, or the willingness to learn.
