Component speaker that give BASS.

I might be lookign to sell my SubTHump box. -For the sake of weigth reduction.

Are there any component speakers out there that give a good kick if I hook an amp to them? I mostly listen to rock and metal, BTW.. I mean GOOD bass..

High End Soundstream???

Re: Component speaker that give BASS.

the only way your going to get GOOD bass is with a speaker thats meant to give GOOD bass and thats a sub woofer.....not a mid bass like you would find in a component speaker set up

Exactly as said prior, good low-end bass can only really be achieved with a subwoofer, especially in a automotive enviornment.

I mean a nice set of Diamond audio/Audiobahn 6.5" mid-bass drivers provide some nice mid-bass, but are not a subsitiute for subwoofers in the true low-end.

I have a pair of Digital Audio Mid-Bass speakers in my sail panels, and they are awesome, but they do not give me that kick that you find with a subwoofer. For true good bass, you need a sub.

Exactly, component speakers are not made to produce bass, the tweeter is for higher sounds, and the coaxil is for the mids, subwoofers are of course for the very lows.. bass... You cant really find a speaker to give you good bass when its not made to do that

Cool. I was thinking along the lines of Mid-Bass speakers. Like I said in my post, I don't listen to rap very often, so I'm not looking for LOW bass, just a speaker that can reproduce the bass drum and the bass guitar (that dosen't sound like crap). I had an amp in my last car for the 2 ways, and the sound quality was second to none...

And yea, the dynomat is out of the question. I have two 12's right now, but I'm, starting to entertain thoughts of weight reduction. THe box isn't terribly heavy, but heavy enough. I've got Soundstream Tarantula 6.5's in the front now (2 ways...No amp)... I've had them for a while and I think one of them is on the way out.

If you want some weight reduction, I wuld suggest dumping the pair of 12's and go with something like a single 10 in a stealth box just to fill in the bottom; almost all systems that I've heard without a sub just have something missing; it doesn't matter what you listen too, the low end is still in the music.

Another option: Rockford Fosgate has a 6" subwoofer. It'll fit in the sail panels (next to the rear seats) quite nicely, and a pair of them will *almost* match a single 10.

Exactly, we have sports cars, not cars like suv's that get entered into sound competitions all the time and get put on the termlab to make 150+ db, all you really need is a nice 10" with 300 watts or so to give you a nice good sound thats better then nothing and will probably only add 40 pounds all together after the box and everything else is said and done

Re: Component speaker that give BASS.

Dangit! I had a huge reply typed up and it got deleted when I allowed pop-ups. Ah well, back to sqaure one!

Front stage - A good 2 way component set is always the first step. However, install is more important than spending the most money on the drivers themselves. Proper sealing and sound deadening will make a $250 set sound better than a $1500 set that's just slapped in there.

Sub stage - There are quite a few options to choose from in 6.5" high excursion sub-drivers now. Elemental Designs makes the EU-700, a 6.5" driver with over 13mm of one way excursion (Typical 6.5" driver can move about 2.5-5mm). They are also capable of playing free-air. I would mount these in the rear sail panels with spacers.

Add a good 4 channel or 3 channel amp, cross the fronts over at around 60hz and the subs at the same, and you should be good to go.

Sample system:

Fronts: http://cgi.ebay.com/DLS-MS6A-6-5-2-W...QQcmdZViewItem
Rears: http://edesignaudio.com/product.php?...pid=32&cur=USD
Amp: http://cgi.ebay.com/BOSTON-ACOUSTICS...QQcmdZViewItem

And then deaden the hell out of your front doors, and it would also help to do the rear sail panels as well.

Re: Component speaker that give BASS.

I'm thinking more of the stealth box w/ a JL10..

Is therea good spray on type sound dedening that will give the same effect as dyanomat? -Like undercoating or something? It'd be lighter right??

And yes, I FULLY agree w/ the FULL spectrum idea of music. I am BIG into my music, and running low on funds to dump into the car. (I'll have to hold off on modding after this $6g spree I just went on)...

I do want my car to be functional ahnd be fast. Hence the weight reduction=free, idea.

As far as the box, I'm not 100% sure on selling it yet, People at show LOVE it. I like it too.. The punch of 2 12's.... It's a T-top box w/ an embossed Z28 embelem on the pass side. (see my cardomain link in sig... page 4 for audi sys specs.)

Why not just take it out for the track or a race?
