Colored Guage Bulbs

I want to make the guages in my 94Z red like the T/A guages. What would be the easiest way to do this, just change out the bulbs? I don't really want a new face(black works for me), I just like the way the pontiac guages look. Does anyone have part #s for all the lights and how many are there(guages,HVAC, and headlight panels)? Would a guage cluster from a bird fit a camaro, or are the dashes too different?

You need 7 bulbs for you car. They're 194 style bulbs. I would get LEDs though. They don't get hot, and last pretty much forever. As for the HVAC, you're going to have to wire those yourself. You can't just buy a new colored bulb that will fit it. Again, just get some LEDs and wire them up.

Picture of my gauges.

Sweet man thats exactly what I'm lookin for. Any particular LEDs and where do you get them? Do they fit in the bulb sockets or do you hard wire them?

For the gauges you can get typical 194 style bulbs which you can buy at most part stores. I would also check out Ebay for the same bulb. Just go to the automotive section and search for 194 LED.

You'll need to do your own wiring for the HVAC LEDs. I would buy some 5mm LEDs and hard wire them into your existing wires that were used for the factory bulbs. Just remember to get some resistors.

Thanks man, I found the posts in the appearance forum just after I posted this. I ordered like 50 red leds(5mm), a little overkill but they were $10. I am working on a fiberglass project for 2 12s and 3 amps in the back seat area so I am going to put a bunch back there. I am going to make a clear plexi cover over my amps with the leds surrounding the edge so you won't see the leds but the plexiglass will glow red(hopefully). I was going to do neons, and I want all my guages to match. I'm glad you mentioned the leds, they will work much better. I will score some 194s for the guages though. Did you do anything to the blue film on the guages or is that not a problem with red?

I haven't tackled the HVAC yet. But I plan to once I get the car out of storage. So I'm not positive on the blue part of the temp setting. I would assume that it will make a purple type color, since red and blue make purple. There's only one way to find out.

Also, make sure you get some resistors with those LEDs. Most guys on ebay give them to you for free. But just make sure.

When you get the resistors, just get 470 ohm 1/2W size. They are $.99 for 5 at Radio Shack.
