cheap amps?

I'm going to buy a new amp today to push my 10" kicker comps and wanted to know if some of those cheap high wattage amps would be good or witch brands do you like that would push my comps that are not expensive?

You get what you pay for when it comes to an amp. If you see a 1000-watt amp with a 15-amp blade fuse in the side, it's not going to put out 1000 watts. The cheap manufactures have a reputation of advertising their products with very unrealistic numbers. If you can't afford an amp made by a reputable company perhaps look for a used one. Otherwise, you can take the risk and buy something from Wal-Mart.

I'm not shure what brand amps or models you consider reputable.

I will leave that answer for the other people on this forum. I have knowledge of car audio equipment setup/use. However, it has been years since I've ventured into purchasing decisions.

Alpine is arguably the best brand out there. I would go with Pioneer second (in that group).

Class-D Alpine of same wattage will cost you more then Brutus. Everything else you listed is a junk. Also, you may want to look for MTX class D amps, good quality and price. Never look at maximum amp wattage (like some pyramid with 3000W label on top of it), check for RMS watts.

I do look at the rms wattage. I was told that mtx are junk. How about all you on here tell me what amps and subs you have and what you think of your setup.

Despite the title of your thread, I'm gonna tell you a great set up...something to look forward to.

Alpine HU, a rear wall amp rack mounted with: Alpine 4-channel amp to 6.5 components w/ crossovers up front and 6.5 speakers in the sail panels and an Alpine 2-channel amp powering 2 type R 10" subwoofers each in a stealth enclosure.

This will be one of the nicest, cleanest, best sounding set-ups around, hands down:

That is a nice system. I also think I need a 2 ch amp and not a mono block.

All these are the amplifier "brands to stay away from". Along with jensen and a few others. Alpine should not be categorized with those brands since they are top notch amps. Not sure if this is a budget thing or what, but you would be far ahead to by a good used amp rather than a new pyle, legacy, sony, etc because doing that is totally blowing your money. Go buy and old school Rockford or PPI amp. You won't be disappointed. Buy a new overrated legacy or pyramid amp and you'll be kicking yourself for sure. Btw, eD has some nice amps too. You should check those out.

if its cheap you want, I can say go to walmart, They have a bunch of Visonik powered subs on sale right now. At least they do around here right now, pretty much all of the walmarts around here. Its a 12" in a box with a 500 watt amp attached to it. I bought one for $25 and got another for $15 cause the speaker was torn.

Heres where it gets fun. I took the sub out, blocked off the vent hole (its a chambered box) put it back in and sounded bout twice as good with a pretty nice punch compared to out of the box. I've had a sony xplod 12" for probably 2 or 3 years that always sounded good, so I took the amp out of the other box and hooked it up to the xplod. WOW. I have to say Im impressed for such a cheap amp and usually low quality brand. If your just looking for cheap, better than stock, and louder than stock, I would recommend tryin one of these. Im going to build a box to house the x plod facing down into the well then fix the one thats tore, and mount those two facing up in one big box. But that'll be after I decide to spend the $$$ and get a real amp for the sony.

The 500 watt amps that come with those are single channel and have High level and rca inputs too. Will work with about any setup you have.

conclusion- buy 2, use the amps to power your 10's that you already have, and sell the 2 12"s with boxes to somebody else/put in gf's car or somethin.
