Can you guys help me out?

I want to upgrade the sound system in my car. It has the bose system w/cd player and subwoofer. I don't know anything about sound systems. Maybe you guys can recommend a head unit for me, some speakers, an amp, and I plan on getting an MTX 10" sub hidden away in the rear driver side compartment. Keep in mind I'm on a budget here so don't go too crazy.
Thanks in advance.

Headunit: Alpine CDA-9807 Great headunit, lots of features, and a killer price. You aren't going to win any competitions, but I guarantee you will be happy. Look for your best price on eBay.

Front Component Speakers: CDT CL-61a Awesome speakers at a great price. Order these from www.thezeb.com. Read their description of what makes the CL-61a different from the CL-61.

Amp: US Acoustics USX-4085 or JBL P-80.4 Either of these amps would be great for running your front component speakers. They are also both 4 channel amps, so when/if you get ready to add some rear speakers, you are ready for them.

Subwoofer: Alpine SWR-1041D Type R 10" If you plan on getting the 10" stealth box, this sub will be perfect. Much better than the MTX. It is a good all around subwoofer.

Amp: JBL BP300.1 The perfect amp for that sub.

Rear fill: JBL GTO626 Rear fill is optional. However, I would reccomend it. I have the old version of the speakers, the GTO625 and I am very happy with them. They are great for rear fill, but I wouldn't use them up front.

So, how much is all this stuff?
CDA-9807 - $200 Buy it now on ebay
CDT-CL61a - $149 at www.thezeb.com
USX-4085 - ~$100+ OR JBL P-80.4 - $110 buy it now on ebay
SWR-1041D - $94.50 on www.ikesound.com
JBL BP300.1 - $130.50 on www.ikesound.com
JBL GTO626 - $50 on ebay or $59 on ikesound

Total ~ $1094 + shipping

* You may be able to find slightly lower prices, these are just the first ones I found. You will probably also save some money if you buy used, eBay of course. I got my USX-4065 much cheaper used.

And you will need to buy wire, check out... www.knukonceptz.com

Oh, and you will need the 10" stealth box ($112) from www.subthump.com

Those prices add up fast, I know... but trust me, don't get anything MTX.

Good luck!

You are welcome, glad to help you out.
Is this what you were expecting to spend? more or less?

Yeah, I don't expect anything to be cheap. Things add up pretty damn quick. (For example, people think to do headers it will cost them $500, but then a Y pipe is $200, then $100 for gaskets/bolts/o2 extensions, etc)
