Can somebody Help me with a problem?

Ok heres whats goin on. My stock cd player quit putting out sound from cds or radio. Everything still works like normal except no sound. Clock works, cd goes in like its working. If you turn volume all the way up you can here the cd faintly. I think it is the cd player but what is everyone elses opinion. Any ideas would be great.

O sorry Guys, its a 1994 Z28 Camaro and all audio is stock. But me and my dad checked to see if the wires were loose

Give us information on your car and audio system.

Could be as simple as a loose ground/power on the Monsoon amp if you have one, could be as complex as an internal problem with your HU/deck.

yeah sounds like you have a factory amp and the problem is there.

It way to unlikely for all the channels on your radio to quit working all together so I would put my money on the factory amp which I doubt is bad, prob just a blown fuse or something stupid.

oh it's a '94 -- any Bose option or anything on that?? If possible, try using another HU if you or a friend has one lying around -- don't need to hook it up/install it completely, you would just be able to eliminate the HUs internal amp/etc as the problem.

well its either the headunit or the bose amp... id say since you get faint sound at high volumes it could be either one. best bet is to try hookin up another headunit and seeing what happens.

You can, just dont turn it up very loud since each speaker has its own amp. I just installed an alpine deck in my car with the bose speakers, and it works fine...

i was under the impression that the bose system in the camaro just has one amp which is in the back built into the stock subwoofer, some one please chime in... and to the person who said dont turn the volume up to loud with aftermarket radio because of seperate amps there is a way to fix this

Penta, all I know is that they have things with the speakers in the plastic piece that surrounds them that seemed like to me were little amps, but I may be wrong

thast just the door baffle they all got that regardless of what system you have... i guess easiest way to check would be to pull the rear speakers. every bose car is diff ie maximas and C4 vettes all have seperate amps. monsoon fbodys have one amp in the back right corner. i though bose camaros just had one amp built into the factory sub

The Bose system uses a high voltage (HV), low-level output from the head unit to high impedance speakers that each have their own individual amp (supposedly specifically tuned for the location they are in) and they all use floating grounds.

This is where the problem comes in when replacing speakers because without the proper Bose adapter an aftermarket head unit will quickly destroy the rest of the system -- whoever mentioned before not to turn the volume up. So it isn't necessarily just because there is another amp that would make it louder and damage speakers, it's the fact that the HU isn't doing the same thing.

EDIT: point is, if you use another HU - get the adapter, otherwise penta will tell you what to do. Monsoon systems use a normal HU connected to a special amp, so no modification is needed.

Its not the monsoon HU. Does anyone have an idea where the problem lies then? I knew not to fully connect it and all I just wanted to see if it was the head unit or the speakers. How could it be the speakers with the individual amps? I wouldnt think they would all go at the same time.
