bought a new stereo today

i ordered a Pioneer deh-p7800mp today. my stereo i have now is about 3 years old and the volume **** only works part of the time and the face doesn't always work. it's been bugging me so i decided to get a new one. it should be here in a few days. i also got it for only $273, not a bad deal since msrp on it is $420.

Ehh....why buy standard Pioneer when the Premier can be had for the same money, which has the better warranty.

Premier 980BT here. Got it new for about $385 shipped when it was newly released.

Man, I hope you like it... I bought the Premier version of that one off of Ebay, and I hate the Rotary Commander joystick crap navigation they used on it. I hate it so much I'm thinking about flipping it on Ebay and getting something different, and I've only had this one for a couple months!

I love the rotary command ****, and think it works very well.

I looked into getting an Alpine deck, but they were all WWAAYYY too much money for a decent deck. And their Bluetooth option sucks, badly. IMO if they tweaked their lineup a bit, by offering certain features on more decks, their lineup would be 100x better. The deck that had all the features I wanted (and plenty I didn't want/need) was crazy expensive.

I really wanted a top-end Eclipse, but couldn't justify the cost, and no Bluetooth option.

The Clarions didn't impress me, I've not really enjoyed the Kenwood decks I've owned/played with. I won't even consider a Sony deck (I like some of their stuff, but find their car audio to be garbage). I saw a few ok Panasonics, but nothing that made me the least bit interested in owning one.

i love my amp. the only thing that bothers me with it is it overheats too easily during the summer.

Congrats, nice looking unit! I like the sound of newer Pioneer HU's. It will sound even better with a good aftermarket amp/components.
