Bose speakers fit ok?
Bose speakers fit ok?
My friend told me today that he is likely to get a new sound system for his 2005 Accord and said I could have his set of Bose speakers from the car if I wanted them. Would they fit my car and hook up without any problems? Would my steering wheel controls work still?
Thanks, I know pretty much nothing when it comes to cars

Re: Bose speakers fit ok?
It might help to know exactly what kind of car you drive. I assume it's a T/A, but what year? Bose speakers typically have the amp attached to them (1 for each speaker), so I don't know if they'd work for you. That's the way it is in my 93 anyway.
Re: Bose speakers fit ok?
He doesn't have "bose" speakers in his 2005 Accord. His head unit is made by Alpine and his speakers are made by Pioneer. That's the way it is in every 2003+ Accord, though the EX has nicer Pioneer speakers and 10 more watts per channel RMS going to them than does the DX and LX models.
IIRC they were 6x8s on the rear deck.... don't know about up front as we never touched those when I helped my friend with 'em. You can look it up easily on crutchfield.com
I hope you don't have the factory head unit in your f-body though, because the ohm (resistance) levels that head units is designed for is wildly different than those Accord speakers will show it. In other words you're likely going to end up having the music sound like crap and kill the amp inside your head unit, too.
Even the Acura TL (the premium version of the Accord) uses panasonic speakers, not Bose.

Re: Bose speakers fit ok?
The key to most Bose units I've seen is the amp and the equalization, the speakers are nothing really special. You could buypass the amps and go direct to the speakers but I doubt you'd get anything extra. Price is right though.

My applogies I did forget to mention that I drive a 99 Firebird.
