bose radio problems

i have a 94z with the factory 3 speaker bose radio.. i replaced the head unit and got the right interfaces (scosche fai-3 or somthin and the new wiring harness) and i have all the wires hooked up correctly but when i turn the radio on i get no sound. radio works fine just no sound from any speakers. if i want to change everything and re wire it all were do i get power for the hu..when i unplug the sub assembly in the trunk the radio wont turn on anymore.

i was thinking the amps were bad but seems weird all three would go at the same time. ive called scosche and they said i had the wires hooked up correctly.
i really dont want to rewire the front door speakers just cuz its a hassel and if i do that and put rear speakers in and wnat to remove the bose sub assembly in the back then i have no power to the radio.

You should check your fuses for the radio. maybe its blown. And to power the head unit all u need is the yellow, Orange , black, wires ( Batt. Ignition, ground) and I dont remember the color but the anttena wire. and you should be getting power to your HU. But ya maybe you blew a fuse when you were hooking it all up.

yea i can check the fuses but if one was blown wouldnt the radio not turn on?? this stereo has me stumped..and i have the orange yellow and black wires but they run back to amp/sub in the trunk and if i take that out or unplug it the radio wont turn on. so if i do take it out do i have to run new power wires and a ground wire for the radio? thanks for the help..i know a little about this stuff but not enough

You wired it wrong. There is an amp on/off signal wire from that HU that needs to be hooked up to the power antenna wire on your aftermarket harness. I had the same issue when I installed mine.

Why is your remote(blu/wht) connected to your power antenna(blu) and then to your amp wire?

You're feeding voltage back into the deck and it's cutting to keep from frying.

the blue/white wire on my HU is the amp turn on wire..that wire is connected to the blue power antenna wire which connects to the pink wire on the factory harness which is the wire that feeds power to the amps in the car...without those wires connected there would be no power going to the amps..the radio doesnt shut off it works fine there is just no sound..like the amps arent turning on.

So the blue is coming off the car or the HU?

I' check to see if your remote turn on is supplying 12v. If you don't have a meter try hooking the pink up to the red acc wire coming off the HU and see if that turns on the amp.

So you tied the blu and blu/wht wires off the deck to each other.

You might have blown the blu/wht remote wire.

The acc wire aka red wire of the HU puts out 12v with the ignition in the ACC and ON position. If you tap the red wire to the pink it should turn on your amp. The crappy part about wiring it that way is that 1.you may be running too much current through the line and blow the fuse or 2. you get a big "thud" sound from your amp every time you turn on your car and/or both 1 & 2.

If you're going to run a constant 12v to that pink wire make sure you put at least a fuse, definitely an on/off switch and relay(if you know how)

It sounds like you wired it up right. You shouldn't have to run new speaker wires to get it to work. I'd go back over all your connections and make sure they are all correct. What did you use to splice the wires?

What are you replacing, the stock HU? Plug it back in and see if the speakers still work.

my 94 camaro had the bose 3speaker system and i dont recall that the power/ground wires ran to the back sub. I also disconnected the sub and removed it and my radio still has power....... WHen your car is on and then you turn it off does ur headunit shut off until you open your doors? or right when you kill the ignition this could also determin you have it wired wrong. your headunit should stay on until the doors open or it times out. Doesnt each speaker connection have like a silver bare wire with it? I dont remember try hooking those up the negative speaker wire from the HU speaker wires.

I had the same problem.. Read somewhere that the speakers (factory bose) are meant for 2ohms and the new stereos put out 4ohms so they wont last long with a newer stereo...

I just rewired the whole thing... It wasnt easy

the blu/white wire on my HU has a fuse and its still good i checked that right after i hooked it up..im not sure if the headunit stays on when i shut the car off i always turn my radios off before i turn the car off so ill have to check on that..but idk why my radio wont work when i unplug the back amp/sub i wouldnt think that the power would run there b4 the radio..im pretty sure i have all the wires hooked up rite cuz ive went over them many times trying to figure out what is wrong..my original HU broke so i cant plug it back in..and i ran wire to a dif speaker that i had so i kno the HU is good..i have no idea whats wrong with it..i think its just the amps arent turnig on for some reason...ive called scosche which is were i got all the connections from and they said i had eveerything hooked up rite and that the amps mite be bad..idk but i think i mite just get it re wired..i got a price from one place and they said 175 to get everything rewired and new power and ground wires ran..i think i mite just do that so i can put in aftermarket stuff and dont have to deal with anything bose anymore.

Not sure if the stereo sends power to that sub then the other speakers.

I think ground is shared. And like it says here none of the speakers were connected directly to the hu.

The Bose system was the premium audio option on Camaros only between 93 and 96. It was available in a 3-speaker configuration and a 5-speaker configuration. Both versions had full-range door speakers and a subwoofer mounted in the left rear hatch area. The 5-speaker version had sail panel mid-range speakers as well. The system used a special head unit that output low-level, high-impedance signal to individual amps attached to each of the speakers. None of the speakers were connected directly to the HU. The individual amps powered low-impedance speakers wired with a common ground setup (almost all other modern systems use floating ground).
