Bassy 6x9"s needed

My system is lacking punch but I don't want to install a sub for space reasons. I listen to rock and don't want thumping bass like alot of people who listen to rock want (not that there is anything wrong with that, its just not for me). I have pioneer's in the rear and I like them, but once again, no bass. What are the best 6x9"s to get if I want some more low end?

The curse of the 3rd gens is that those sail panels cannot produce anything approaching decent bass. Type of 6x9 will make NO difference

What I do to get some bass is record my MP3s (or CDs) through the SRS Wow Thing! in WinAmp 2.9x and then to a folder on my hard drive. Then I record the files to CD, whether MP3 or wave.

This gives me very satisfying bass for an accurate reproduction of rock, which I prefer too

It is a bit of a procedure to accomplish and you MUST have a CD burner to accomplish this. If you do, then send me an email tsauve@shaw.ca and I will send you two files of the same song, one processed through SRS and the other not. Then you can decide if you want to do it.

Polk Audio. Just make sure it has adequate power, some 6x9's use a ton!

Brilliant idea. I was going to amp up my 6x9"s and cut all treble. I have winamp 2.91 I believe and I thought the SRS Wow was prt of windows media player. Anyway, how do I add bass to CDs I burn? How much should I boost it? I imagine you perfected it over time and I am curious of a good place to start.

Josh,

I have a 3rd gen car club meeting tonight but will get back to you shortly. In the meantime, go to the WinAmp site and get the SRS WowThing! and the Lame MP3 plugin from their Plug In section.

The SRS plugin cuts my volume in half as soon as I load it...it scoops the mids way too much.

OK, here we go

For those who would like to actually hear what this SRS system does for your music, here is the download page. It works as a plug-in for WinAmp (Windows MediaPlayer 9 also has it built in):

http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=1724

If you are clever you can even run it through your home stereo, or print an output file to MP3 or Wave on your hard drive and then record it to CD and play it on any CD player you have, including the car player. It sounds awesome in the car

PS Here are the activation codes. You MUST type them in (won't work if you cut and paste) EXACTLY as shown here. DO NOT use your own email address but rather type the wow@wowthing.com address!

EMail Address: wow@wowthing.com

Registration Key: Severe stray hosts broil likely junior folks randomly

Next, you must activate it as the DSP/Effect Plugin of choice. Go to WinAmp's Options>Preferences>Plugins>DSP/Effect and highlight the SRS Wow! Processing for WinAmp.

Then you must turn it on. When the program is on on the desktop there are 3 buttons on both the left and right side. The top right one is the On/Off button. The buttons on the left let you choose your speaker type or headphones. The curved sliders on the top and bottom allow you to increase the bass (bottom) or increase the surround effect (top).

When you right click on the program it allows you to Minimize the program to the system tray.

Go to the end of this thread for a picture of how it should look when activated and turned on. http://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/show...hreadid=242405

When you get it up and running correctly we'll move to the next step.

Are you sure that the volume doesn't go down when you turn it off? It will work correctly when it is setup right.

When I click "off" the volume is the same, but when I bypass the plugin the volume increases drastically. I am just using the stock EQ right now and it made a large difference. I'm gonna stuff that compartment becuase that makes perfect sense and is abslutely right. Thanks guys.

Let me know if the stuffing method satisfies you. If not we can move on to the last step, which does providing satisfying depth.

I have a brand new pair of Soundstream 6x9 3-way 2 ohm sound pressure level (SPL) speakers. Still wrapped up new and I'll let them go for $250.00 US. Probably the best you can get.
