Thumbs up basic stereo install help

Okay i just bought a kenwood deck, but i spent all the money on it so i didnt have enough for the install. i dont get paid till two weeks and i have a car payment due then so there it goes. i just want to know how to i get the stock radio out? i have installed speakers before but never messed with the stereo. can you give some pointers on how to remove and install this new one? any help is appreciated! even if it is just how to get the console off.

i think you should take it to a best buy, circuit city, good guys,
so you don't void the warrenty. then u can add amps and other things later on. DON'T take it to a hole in the wall corner shop they sometimes have newbies work on your car and don't know what to hook up where. i knew a guy that a shop do his system hooked up to a main power source for one of the computer units. keeped draining the car and almost fried the sysem for the engine that is. i now how some of these shops work, i worked in one for a week. didn't like there wrong business so i left. didn't even let them know. just walked out. take it to a major company and you'll be okay...

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

In a Firebird all you have to do is pop off the trim panel around the radio. There are pins in the top corners, one at the bottom right corner and one on the left edge just over half way down the panel. They're pretty tight at first and may take a bit of prying to remove it. Once the panel is out of the way remove the three 7mm screws that hold the HU in place. Pull the HU out of the dash as far as you can. It won't come all the way out so you need to get it out as far as you can and then unplug the wiring harnesses in back. There will be the main harness, the antenna and the CD changer controls (if your car has this option). I think Camaros are pretty much the same deal.

What year is your car? Do you have the BOSE or the POS Monsoon? Do you plan to play this HU thru the stock system? The more detailed info you give the better the answer will be.

Thanks for all your help LS1 RULZ. Its a stock system. Just a four speaker setup with a cassete deck. I actually work at Besy Buy and I know the installers and I would not let them touch my car for nothing. Last time they had this ss in there and they did a sorry job so let alone let them mess up mine. For know I plan just to add this cd deck so i can stop wasting batteries on my car kit . thanks a lot again!

Installing the deck is real easy. First you need to get a wiring harness and the trim molding that goes in the space of the stock radio. Second, pull the trim around the radio/AC off. (It just pulls right off) Then, unscrew the factory radio and unplug it. All you have to do next is match up the aftermarket deck wires with the wiring harness and plug back into the car. Clean it all up and replace the trim and you're in business.

The parts are like $12 for the kit, harness and antenna adapter on your discount and yes the trim pops out a couple of 7mm bolts later and the factory deck is out. Wires match up color for color on the harness, plug the ant adapter in, break out the shaft style mount from the kit, slide the cage in the kit, bend some tabs out to hold the cage in the kit, slide the deck in and screw it in should take like 10 min.
