Autometer Gauge ground wires?

The instructions say to ground the gauges to an "engine ground" near the sender for the pressure gauges.. Is it really necessary to route wire through the firewall just to ground them? Can it just be connected to a chassis ground in the interior or does this cause interference of some kind?

If so, can I simply just connect all 4 of my gauges together and ground them at one point on the block? I'd imagine it wouldnt have to be exactly right next to the sender.. I just don't want to run 4 ground wires, and 3 sender wires for a total of 7 wires through the firewall, I don't think the hole I made in my firewall is big enough with all the stereo wires in there.

Just give them a good chassis ground. That is all I did for mine and I have no problems.

A good clean ground anywhere in the car will do just fine.
