ASR Switch - What will happen?
ASR Switch - What will happen?
I got an ASR switch for my 98 Camaro which has no ASR system. However, it does have the plug for the switch. What will happen if I plug the switch in and hit it? Will it try to do something funky and hurt the car?
The reason I got the switch is that if it doesn't hurt anything I may use it for something else. My ASR switch "seems" to be a momentary on type switch, is yours? Not sure what I an use that for.
I didn't have Fogs either but I installed some and have them running off an original switch. I just tapped into the 12v out and sent it to a after-market relay. It makes it all look very original and proper.

Re: ASR Switch - What will happen?
Don't think you're in the right forum. And not sure about ASR as I don't have it on mine. If you don't have it, I don't understand why you would have the switch and not a blank knockout instead.
Re: ASR Switch - What will happen?
Sorry, I thought "Electronics" would be the right forum because my question was about an electronic switch. But perhaps it should be moved elsewhere.
My car didn't have fogs or ASR. But if you remove the plastic trim the blanks turn out to be holders for the FOG and ASR electrical plugs. I bought a fog and ASR switch. I use the fog switch for fog lights that I installed myself. I thought I might use the ASR switch for something also.
The plugs arn't really suppose to go anywhere on cars like mine. But they do let you switch power on/off if you add a switch. You just have to splice into the output wire on the plug and run it to something.
On the fog switch the output just went to nothing. My car didn't even have the contacts for the fog-relay under the hood. So thats why I spliced into the output wire and ran it to my own relay/fuse/lights.
My question was what does the ASR go to? If I plug-in the switch would it give power to something it shouldn't? I mean, considering I have no ASR system in my car.
