Amped component choice

I used to run Infinity Kappa 60.5cs in the front off my Kenwood headunit, but a few years back I decided to run my fronts amped. I used the amped rationalization to move into Focal 165v1's, since they seemed to be a little more capable of handling the 125 watts RMS that I am throwing through the front channel now.
Yesterday one of the Focals blew.
So now I have to decide if I want to replace the one bad woofer, or if I want to upgrade the whole component front system.
I thought the focals were decent (once I adjusted the brightness down a little). They didn't go as low as I would have liked, but overall I got 2.5 years of loud music out of them, so I guess I can't complain.

I did contact someone semi-locally that said they could sell me a replacement Focal woofer for $60-$120 depending on the exact need. I look at that and think $60 might be a good price to get right back into the game, but at $120 I don't think I would even bother getting the replacement

I've been eyeing specs on the Polk MM6501 or the Polk MM6, but I really am at a loss here.
I need something around the $200 (or less) mark, and it needs handle 125 watts RMS (4 ohms).
Any recommendations?

IMO, Infinities are too bright. Focals are good. Polks are poor man's audio.

Personally i'm a huge fan of Rainbow Audio speakers.

Haven't heard anything so balanced, ever. If you can find a local dealer I recommend you take a listen. They're off the hook.

Infinities too bright?!?!? Their Kappa's are almost painful on the Ears, but IMO so are the upper end Focals.

Well if one speaker blew maybe the other one is stressed too. probably on its way out?? lol. Than if u were to buy another one than the other would blow. I would get mids to match the brand of your HU (i like matching ) and some subs too (if u dont have any) and put your high pass filter on! the specs for these say their frequencys are from 70hz . and the amps max wattage output rating could be different from the speakers max (120) ratings. So buying a sub would really help out your mids not stress as much.

Ebay has cheap speakers 4 sale! brand name brandnew lol. check there

When I worked at Best Buy the car audio management was insistent on me pushing those "speaker saver" filters as an add-on to speaker sales. I absolutely refused!

LOL! I really don't see the point in selling them. I'd always stress to the consumer that if they were playing their stereos that loud, they either need to purchase a four channel amp or turn the volume down.
