The only thing I can't figure out with the wiring is what wire to connect to the dimmer wire from the head unit? The Haynes manual shows two wires and I can't figure out which to use. There is a "lights on input" that is brown and "illumination input" that is gray. Which one should I use for the dimmer wire from the head unit?

Are you using a wiring harness? Thats the best way to put it in. Some cars dont have dimmer wires. You should use the illumination wire if you want dimmer.

I didnt even mess with it on my Alpine.

Im a Roadshop Manager at a Circuit City, so we deal with that all the time.

I bought a Scosche connector. It has an orange ILLUMINATION/DASH LIGHT wire. I haven't removed the factory unit yet but the Haynes manual shows two. There is a LIGHTS ON INPUT wire that is brown and a ILLUMINATION INPUT wire that is gray. I don't know where the orange wire from the connector goes to the factory harness, whether it's the gray or brown.

When hooking up your harness to the alpine harness, just cut the orange wires and tape them up. Unless you really want to use the dimmer function. I think its pointless personally.

If not, it should be orange to orange or orange/white to orange.
