Alpine Type R vs. Infinity Perfect

imagine:

2 10" subs, roughly 600-700 watts RMS. Which would be louder? better sound quality?

Hmmmm kinda tough one...... I'd say the type R's MIGHT be louder then the perfects, but the perfects will have better SQ. I'd go for the perfects... they might even be louder then the Alpines..... but they will for sure sound better.

Alpines--Hands down. I seriously doubt a 10" Perfect can handle that amount of power. The Alpines are way more durable and will hit a heck of a lot harder than the kappas. The Infinities may have a slight edge is SQ, but not much if any. Go with the Alpines, you will be glad.

so far from what i've heard (on other audio forums and here) the pro's and cons of each are

Pro's: Infinity has better sound quality than Alpine. Alpine is louder than inifnity

Cons: none yet

and i like loud, so i'm thinkin i'll lean towards the alpines, not to mention they much less expensive

Check my sig for what I run. I've heard both Type R's and Infinity's in my car, and to be honest I prefer my Infinity's. Reason being, they don't get as loud, but they will go louder without distorting. So while you may hit 130Db's with Type R's, you'll hit 120Db's with the Infinity's, while the Infinity's will sound just as clear as half that volume.

The thing I love about my subs, is that the bass is so thick and full, it's like you could reach out and eat it.

i have owned both and with my set up the ifinity's sounded better in every way, but the alpines are no slouches either. Which ever sub you go with, you will be happy.

Alpine Type R no question. It may be a bit more inefficient, but the smaller box requirements and the better power handling more than make up for it.

Honestly i would go for a single 12 over a pair of tens, but that is personal choice.

The type-r without a doubt. I've even read some things about the perfects not having very good power handling. In the right box the type-r has great sound quality, at least as good as the perfects.

I have the system listed below with the 2 12" Kappa Perfects and i have about 400W going to each sub and they pound hard and clear. I've given these things a pounding and they just send it back. I love the sound of them and would recommend them. I haven't heard the alpines so i can't compare but you won't be sorry with the perfects. Just make sure you get a cap to keep power to those babies.
