Alpine subamp..... owned.
Alpine subamp..... owned.
My sub quit playing a few weeks ago, and I just got around to looking at the problem yesterday afternoon. After I looked at it, the amp was cutting on and off, so I knew it wasn't a problem with the sub itself. I had to pull out my amp rack, which wasn't too bad. It looked like my sub amp almost caught on fire!! I removed the amp and started looking at the power/ground/remote terminals, and the area around the ground wire was white, like it got real hot!!! The insulation on the ground wire was burned and brittle. Also the plastic dividers between the ground and remote lead were completely melted off.
I just don't get it...... I didn't have the amp turned up all the way. I had a cooling fan behind it and the four channel, it was only running a 4ohm bridged load!! No fuses have ever blown on the stereo or amps. Oh well, I'm glad I bought the extended warranty from CC, now they can fix it for me
