im leaning more toward the HE2 b/c ive already got rockford speakers in my car and i like their quality. another reason i was biased to them is b/c i dont wanna have alot of mismatch stuff in my car (i.e. pioneer HU, rockford speakers, profile amp, and alpine sub?????), i know sometimes its better to mix and match to get the best of all worlds, but it'd be a whole lot easier to say ive got a pioneer/rockford system, catch my drift? regardless if the comparison is slim and just a matter of preference btw the two ill prolly go with the HE2...thanx for the reply!

Type S and the HE2 are both crappy subs. I mean why waste your money on either? I'd seriously upgrade to the Type-R, which is a dual voice coil speaker whereas the S and HE2 are not (i know the S isn't and I'm pretty sure the HE2 isn't, but could be wrong). The Type R will hit harder and works great in small areas.

TYPE-R speakers are amazing!!! That is why I have 2 12 inch Type-R speakers in my car.

In that price range the best speakers i can think of are the Elemental Designs 12 Kx......

To the post above me.... what do you think a DVC is automaticly better.... i won't disagree that the Type R is a better sub, but that is not because it is a DVC.

so are you saying if you take 2 speakers which are the same in every way except one is DVC vs SVC, then the SVC is better? a DVC speaker with the same specs will always be better then a SVC.

but either way, type S speakers suck. you should just pick up a type E haha

as for the Lightning audio speaker question.......
remove the bolts around the speaker, slowly pull the speaker up and then look to see where the wires are connected (possitive/negative). then remove the wires from that speaker. now install the new 12 inch speaker and wire it up the same way as the previous speaker. reinstall the screws. now repeat the same process for the other speaker. shouldn't take more then 20 minutes, even without experience.

Another vote for elemental designs. I just ordered a 10K and i'm waiting for it to come in, its on backorder. I've done a bunch of research on them and chose the 10K for the subthump stealthbox that i bought.

No i am saying that it really doesn't matter, i never once said the SVC was better. I am also saying that a DVC is not better than a SVC. Most voice coils today are either a 2 layer or a 4 layer design and when you switch from a SVC to a DVC and the power handling stays the same and the BL is the same there are abviously the same amount of turns in the gap, and the VC obviously has the same gap tollerance.... what does this mean? There is going to be little to no difference in performance from the SVC to the DVC.... the only difference is going to be the wiring options, and thats all folks. A dual 4 ohm VC and a single 2 ohm VC sub will perform the same when wired to the same impedance on the same amp.
