alarm system for a convertable

anyone know of any good alarm systems for convertable camaro, its a 94 Z28 and I am really proud of it and want to protect my investment, but as I do more things to the car I'd like to protect it so let me know what a good one is, I want the alarm to work when the top is down, like maybe sensors so when someone reaches in it goes off or something

thanx in advance

Viper would be a good choice, or anything from DEI. I would suggest having a field alarm sensor. For DEI, it's the 501d. I've got one on my hard top and all you have to do is come close to the car and the warning beeps goes off. It'll work even better on a vert with the top down b/c that is what this is made for.

Field disturbance sensor (radar sensor) part number is 508D. I would recommend the 690vx alarm if you have a manual transmission and the 790vx (same thing with remote start) if you have an automatic. They both have a 2-way remote with a built in pager. Price should be about $599 installed for the 790vx and $499 installed for the 690vx. The radar sensor price will probably vary depending on the shop. Some places don't mind installing them, some hate it. As an average add $200 to the price. I would recommend having a professional shop install it unless you are REALLY CONFIDENT in your wiring abilities. If you decide to tackle it yourself, here's the wiring for the car.

Do NOT use the orange power wire at the keyless module or door lock switch to power your door lock relays. The passenger switch is the master switch.

This ticks me off...

The DEI website lists the 508D at $87. I called a local Dist and they want $125 just for the part????

I guess they really want me to either let them install it, or buy it somewhere else...

Oh, Nice site... Hate to make my first post here with a mad face... LOL!

What they said. DEI is definatly the way to go. Im personally partial to Clifford. Just browse the site and see which model/brand fits youre needs. They are all built extremly well, and if an authorized shop sold/installed it, you have limited lifetime warranties on both the unit and the installation. You cant go wrong there.
