Question alarm system

I just bought a 1994 z28 that has the factory alarm system. I dont have the remote for the alarm. When I try to start the car the alarm goes off. If I unplug the connectors to the alarm brain and try to start the car all of the gauges power up, but the starter will not crank. Is this because the alarm is not hooked up? If so can I get a new remote and program it so I can start my car?

Not that knowledgeable on the earlier cars, but if the car came with keyless entry you should be able to program a new fob - make sure it's for a 94-95. http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#1995keyless On later years if you arm the alarm using the power door locks, then open the door with the key, you only have a few seconds to get the key into the ignition before the alarm starts going off - not sure if it's the same or what you're experiencing. Sorry not a definitive answer, someone will chime in.
