I dont remember exactly how I did it, but it DOES work. If I remember correctly, you have to do something with a pink wire. Do a search for bose and pink and see what comes up. I didnt buy any kind of adapter or anything either.

on mine there was a blue amp wire that i left disconnected, am/fm worked fine but nothing on cd. hooked up that wire and everything works, but volume level at 5 is like what it used to be almost all the way up on the stock radio.

Yes, I,m about to do the same thing, I dont feel like using NEW speakers and running all new wire. There is some power wire that you have to hook up to power the individual Amps on the speakers. It was Pink or Orange or something like that.

Well as far as I know the issue is that each speaker is amped separately. There may be a wire that you can cut to kill all the amps, but that may cut the sound completely.

I've never ever heard of any other solution than to run new wires to each speaker...

That's why I dumped the entire system for new speakers and amps in the trunk

There is an interface available that allows aftermarket head units to work with the Bose.

You need a Scosche OEA-4 Factory Amp Interface. It's what's in my car and it works like a champ. If you want to retain the factory wiring (I'm assuming you do), there's a wiring harness that plugs right into your existing wiring. I don't have the model number for that but you can get it almost anywhere. Below is a link to the interface. It's an Amazon link, but you can do an internet search and get it from other places.

I second this. Pretty easy actually on Crutchfield.
Select the stereo you want and put in what car you have and it'll be under "Installation Details" on the selected stereo page. Half off if you buy a receiver over 129 so the $40 adapter becomes $20. Not bad.
I think I might just do this soon for the Z28. I really would like to replace the stock system without having to redo all the speakers and wiring. Plus, having the ability to plug the phone or just USB stick into the stereo would be great. Much better than using CDs or trying to find a crappy station here.
